Migratory Messes

Some days I feel like I move from one mess -

to another.
My thanks to Grace for supplying Sam with a watercolor pencil - this picture wouldn't have been possible without her.

St. Patty's Day

The kids reminded me that we all needed to wear green. We didn't do much else for St. Patrick's day, but I did manage to get a picture of the kids in their green shirts. Now if I could just figure out how to get four kids to look at the camera and smile at the same time, I'd retire.

Long Day

All the recipes said once I made homemade playdough I would never go back. So the kids and I mixed and stirred and kneaded and kneaded some more. We made a wonderful yellow, a pretty green and a horrible shade of olive green. It was lovely. It felt nice. It held it's shape well and it smelled nice(ish). Then we let it sit overnight.

The next day was one of "those days". Everything was going wrong. There were tears of frustration, time outs, battles over schoolwork and grumpy babies. It was not a pleasant house. We finally got through the schoolwork and I got Sam to bed. Ethan and Libby wanted to play with the playdough, so we got it out. It was disgusting. It was wet and slimy and stuck all over the kitchen table and my rolling pin. We kneaded some more flour and it got much better. We neglected to put the flour away, though.

It was a very long day.
