Toddlerhood begins!

Libby is getting rather opinionated in her old age.

The other day Libby was in their room and Ethan went to join her. Naturally, a few moments later Libby was crying. Then there was silence. Eerie silence. A moment later she came stumbling out the door, mouth frozen all the way open and tears streaked down her little cheeks. Still...silence. Katie and I got up to check on her (because her lips were turning blue! Blue I tell you!), at which point her legs gave out from under her, she landed on her butt and resumed her aggravated howling. That's right folks, our daughter held her breath until she almost passed out because her brother took a toy. Bless her.

Also, following suit after her brother, she hits her head on things when she is mad. If she misses the first time, she'll keep trying until she has sufficiently injured her forehead on the walls, carpet, tile or stone floors or kitchen table. I just hope she doesn't discover the painful delight of corners. Ouch.

Michael and Katie, this is your cousin Jill in Dallas. My first baby Emma (now 6) was a head banger. She grew out of it and I actually read that it is a sign of intelligence. It seems pretty silly to me to go and hurt yourself that way, but hey, I choose to beieve what they say about intelligence!
