Sadie Lady

This weekend didn't turn out as planned.  Instead of going to church with the family I was taking our dog to the vet.  She got very sick, very quickly.  We had no idea she wouldn't be coming home with us.

I don't really know what to say.  We all are still mourning our girl.  Seeing as I don't journal I wanted to write a little blurb so I will remember.  This post is really for me and the kids.  Please don't feel obligated to read it.

We originally got her to be the kids' dog but Sadie had other ideas.  She very quickly decided she was my dog and needed to go wherever I went.  The kids would grab the leash and Sadie would do the dog equivalent of an eye roll.  I would grab the leash and our fat lazy dog bounced all over the house, knocking kids every which way.  Once when we went camping/fishing, I went out on the boat and she swam after me; not anyone else, just me.  I thought she was going to drown herself because she just wouldn't give up.  She knew she was a grumpy old lady and needed to be with the other grumpy old lady.  We had to turn the boat back toward shore so my brother-in-law could grab her.

She also tolerated a lot.  Grace and Sam thought Sadie was their own personal step stool.  They would stand on her to get up on the couch and she would just lie there, sighing deeply.  I swear, I think she was the dog equivalent to me.  The kids would lay on her and bounce on her.  She only nipped once and Sam justly deserved it.  She was slow to anger and quick to forgive.  I wish I were more like that myself.

She loved food.  Our kids learned pretty quickly to eat at the table or Sadie would snatch food out of their hands.  The kids also found her a convenient way to dispose of food they didn't want.  In just the couple of days she has been gone I've found myself sweeping and vacuuming a lot more.  Popcorn messes don't just magically disappear anymore.

We all miss our Sadie lady.  Sam keeps saying, "Sadie is died.  She came to Hemminy Fadder."  I don't see how he could possibly be wrong.
