School for the Wealthy

Today in Primary we were giving a little introduction on our family. Ethan just became a Sunbeam and I am 2nd Counselor, so we were telling all the children a little bit about us. Ethan told everyone, "I go to school...on an airplane." It made me laugh. The little boy has never been to school unless you count when his cousins are over here so I can help home school them. And that has never ever happened on an airplane.

So our life is pretty busy right now. Michael is still working 40 hours a week at EDS, plus he is taking a calculus class and a management class this semester. They are both heavy on homework. I am helping with the homeschooling of my thirteen and fifteen year old nephews. They are over here twice a week so I can try to shove some literature and writing skills into their shaggy little heads. This week I am also doing wedding flowers for a person from our old ward. Busy, busy. Starting in a couple more weeks I will also start taking a cake decorating class. But the class is really just an excuse for me to get away from the children a couple of hours a week. It should be fun to learn something new though. I am greatly looking forward to it.

This is just a picture of our babies sharing a joyous moment. Usually they are busy beating on one another and stealing toys.

Dorothy - In Memoriam

In Memoriam
Dorothy the Goldfish
2006-2007

Dorothy, beloved fish and friend, member of the Hobson family for about 3 weeks (since Christmas morning), died peacefully (presumably...it wasn't a car wreck or nothin') sometime in the last 12 hours.

She was named after the wildly popular pet of the infamous Elmo (you know..."Elmo loves his goldfish; his crayons too!")

Ethan wanted to feed her, and when Katie told him Dorothy had died, he said she needed to "fix her."

Now she is buried in the back yard after a beautifully brief service. She was remembered fondly.

Now Ethan says we need to go the pet store to buy another one.

Obla dee, obla dah, Life Goes On.

The Great Squash Explosion

So the other night I was busy preparing dinner. I pricked a spaghetti squash a couple of times and put it in the microwave to cook. I left the kitchen for a couple of moments and sat in the living room visiting and relaxing with Michael. Life was calm, dinner was cooking, the kids weren't beating on each other. It was as close to peaceful as this house ever is. While reveling in the quite and peace, we heard a muffled explosion and then the microwave door popping open and hitting the side of the fridge.
The squash had exploded! Oh the humanity. We walked into the kitchen to find squash guts strewn everywhere. I guess if you cook squash in the microwave you need to prick it more then twice. You may look at the picture and think, "Hey, where is the squash? I only see guts." Well the squash was launched.

There it is, in all it's yellow goodness and glory. Who wants dinner?

Ethan's Birthday, with just a touch of Christmas

Well it's been a super busy month and we haven't had a chance to post anything. We had three separate birthday parties for Ethan. One with my family, one with Michael's family and an actual party on his birthday on Christmas Eve. Add in all the church activities and family activities and the month has just been crazy. Ethan loved his birthday. He is so excited to be three and start going to primary. (I don't have the Christmas photos posted yet because I can't figure out where Michael hid them.) Hope you all had wonderful holidays.

Our First Snow

The kids were so excited to see the snow last Monday.

When Ethan first saw the snow he said, "Now we need a Christmas Tree." I wonder where he gets this stuff. This is him catching snow flakes on his tongue.

Libby was quite content to just eat it out of the wagon.
