Not a Baby Anymore

I guess I have to admit it.  This beautiful, fashion conscious, little man is not a baby anymore.  He just celebrated his second birthday.

He can now say please and thank you along with a whole host of other words.  He is starting to put words together to make phrases.  He is starting to potty train.  He is not a baby.  That makes me a little sad.  It almost, almost makes me want another baby.  Then I come to my senses - I am almost done with DIAPERS! *cue happy dance*

Sam requested "ha daws" for his birthday dinner.  So we had hot dogs.  See how happy he is.  That is pure hot dog joy.

Sam also got his very own balance bike.  We took him for a ride around the neighborhood.  He enjoyed himself thoroughly.  He kept going up and down the curb saying "sly, sly."  Translation: "The gentle slope of this concrete abutment resembles the smooth incline of that blue acceleration device I've used at the park on many occasions.  I believe it's called a 'slide.'  Yes!  A slide!"  It was great he was enjoying his ride so very much because the rest of were going crazy.  It took us ten minutes to get down the block.  Sam is SLOW and easily distracted.  But he loves his bike.  Michael ended up picking up Sam and the bike and carrying them both to the playground.  He had to.  We would have all gone crazy otherwise.  I sure hope he gets faster as he gets older.

Grace also loves Sam's new bike.  This led to plenty of tears on Sam's birthday.
Sam got his last present just before bedtime.  He couldn't have been happier.  Grace tried to use this second gift as an excuse for her to claim his bike as her own.  Didn't fly.
