Christmas 2019

Sam is now taller than Grace. In order to make the photo work, they have to stagger their heads. They did this very willingly, likely because they wanted to get to the presents.

They all rushed to unload their stockings. Except Ethan. His stocking was empty. The only thing in it was his hands and his "letter" to Santa. His "letter" to Santa was a printed copy of an email he'd sent to his boss. Santa wrote back, "Christmas canceled. No letter? No loot!" He quickly scrawled on the back of the email, "This email is evidence that I've been good and lived within my moral code."

It was an email explaining why he could not attend a Sunday training. Santa dug out the hidden presents. Christmas was saved!

The presents were dove into. Santa brought each kid one gift, Michael and I bought each kid four gifts, and they each bought one or two gifts for each sibling. There was no shortage of gifts. Libby got Grace a glowing pineapple. It was all Grace never knew she wanted.

Sam got the latest Dog Man book. There was great happiness.

Michael loved his gift! I'm guessing. I don't remember, but the kids did buy us thoughtful gifts. (Editor's note: this was a phone stand Michael wanted for his office and Ethan bought him.)

Ethan gave Libby silicone reusable straws. She was very pleased.

Libby gave Ethan his new Big Foot shirt that says "Photogenic." Here he is modeling it, somehow. It's a great picture!

Sam got Pokemon cards. He's a little happy.

After we unwrapped our presents we headed to Michael's parents' home. Breakfast, more presents, more everything.

That evening we celebrated with my family. No pictures, but more food, more presents, more celebrations. Our group was a little smaller this year, but I think that is bound to happen as we all get older.

It was a beautiful, tiring Christmas. Merry Christmas to all!
