Easter

We kept Easter really low key this year. We dyed eggs with our favorite short humans after taking them to a church-sponsored Easter egg hunt.

And even though the kids are getting bigger, the Easter bunny still visited.

We went for really easy and quite this year. Nobody objected. It was nice.

Totaled?

Libby called from work reporting she needed help with a dead battery. Michael hopped in the van and headed to rescue our daughter. His light was green, he was just driving along. The other driver must not have noticed her red light. She went through the intersection at full speed and Michael didn't have time to react.

Thankfully everyone walked away, completely unharmed. The vans weren't so lucky.

We have a rental, everyone is well, we are just waiting to hear what the insurance company plans for our van.

And Grandpa was able to go help Libby get the truck started and get home. So all is well. Now we wait.

Spring Sports

Sam has been begging for years to play Little League. We finally got him signed up! It has been a rocky experience. His coach is pretty intense, especially considering he has the boys who are still learning the game.

In Sam's first game, both times at bat, he got hit with the baseball. The good news is he walked to first and managed to make it home both times. And he barely had a bruise to show for it.

Track and field has proven to be a much better fit for Sam. He's not really into the track part, but he loves the field events. He can only enter one per meet, which is disappointing. He loves the standing long jump, the triple jump, and the softball throw.

This ribbon he won for the standing long jump! He was pleased with himself.

Grace moved straight from volleyball to her school's track and field. She seems to enjoy all the events. This is her doing the running triple jump. (I didn't even know there was a triple jump!)

Libby told me I'm turning into a soccer mom. I never really envisioned being a soccer mom, but my kids keep signing up for stuff, so here we are. I'm happy to support them in what they choose to pursue. I could use a little more temperature stability though. One day I got a sunburn while cheering them on, three days later it was snow and slush. Spring sports require a strong constitution!

Date Night

The foothills beckoned and we answered the call.

We were not disappointed.

The wind in my hair made us laugh.

Some evenings are just perfect.

Family Outing

It's been a couple years since we've gone to the BMX park. Sam wouldn't even attempt the trails. Grace was in heaven.

Ethan tore up the trails with her. I went once, and felt pretty proud of myself.

Then a mom with a baby in a seat on the back of her bike showed up, and took to the trails. I was humbled.

Sam was content to climb on this sprawling tree. Michael is not pictured on the trails because, well, he was taking the pictures.
