We've been sleeping. Sometimes in our own beds but not always. On a side note, I tried when Libby was a baby not to dress her in pink. I didn't want to her to feel she had to conform to a certain societal stereotype. Then she learned to talk and have opinions. Now the girls' room is a sea of pink. Pink on pink on pink.
We've been naughty. Cute, but still naughty.

We've had Harry Potter-themed birthday parties. This was my early birthday party with my family. The kids and I have been reading Harry Potter and there was a lot of food that we weren't familiar with so we decided to have a tasting party. Michael made pumpkin juice and treacle fudge. I made steak and kidney pie (minus the kidney). My sisters brought pumpkin pasties and licorice wands and soup and rolls and more pumpkin stuff and...well there was a lot of food and no one went away hungry. Also please excuse the mess behind the dessert counter. Just look at the food. The food looks good. Mmmm....canary custards.
And we've been busy earning our privileges. Sometimes it seems like I've read every book about every parenting strategy. We try the new strategy for awhile and it works but then we all fall back into our old habits. Some ladies at my homeschool co-op were talking about using a privilege ladder. They described what they deemed privileges in their house and it got me to thinking. I came home and designed a chart. We hung it on the wall and started. The kids have to move down for bad behavior and they need to be nice and helpful to move up. The chart worked great until it fell apart. So Michael made this one for us. Same concept but sturdier. We've been using the concept for several weeks now and it is still working. It also takes the pressure off me because I don't have to decide on consequences. It is all laid out. Another benefit is watching my kids do nice things for each other. Granted they are doing it to move up the ladder but it is still nice to see. I feel like we are working on good habits while trying to decrease our bad habits. This little chart is working wonders in our house. I love this thing. That in a nutshell is what has been going on here. Nothing exciting or earth shattering. Just everyday life.

I did the same thing when I had Beth....avoided pink....and now, she wears it constantly! Everyone buys pink for girls, and even I think the cutest stuff is in pink. Ugh. And I LOVE your chart. My sister did a sticker chart and I remember her kids wanting to pick up trash around the house to get stickers. She also knew it was just for the reward....but hey, good behavior is good behavior!
I LOVE reading about your everyday life. Hooray for sleep! Naughty Sam is a super cute. The food looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Happy Birthday! And I'm glad the chart is working. I can feel the good works from here.
