Better late then never

A few pictures from my little girl's 4th birthday. Her only requests were a purple purse, flip flops, a real cell phone and a toy cell phone. She received three purses and a toy cell phone. Her loving aunts and uncles gave her money and she found a pair of flip flops at the dollar store. They are three sizes too big but she didn't care. She has worn them every day since. The only thing she didn't get on her wish list was the real cell phone. I told her she could have one when she could pay for it herself. She tried giving me her birthday money but I had to explain to her that it wasn't enough.

She really did like her new blanket. She was just fed up with everyone telling her to smile for the camera.

She requested lemon bars instead of cake. MMM..... lemon bars.
I don't buy sugary cereals for my kids but make an exception on their birthdays. I haul them to the grocery store and let them pick whatever them want. Libby wanted fruit loops so we got fruit loops...then we ate them for lunch. It's only your birthday once a year after all.

And if you are wondering about the frequent outfit changes she had a birthday celebration with my family and one with Michael's family and one at home. If you notice though she is always wearing a dress. I have to bribe her to wear anything else.

Naughtiness

I said, "Kids leave the camera alone. It's your sisters birthday and I don't want you to run the batteries down." After the party I was scrolling through the photos.

BAD DOG!

I decided that I was going to enter some bread and maybe a cake in the fair this year. I am trying to do something just for me every now and then. I also told the kids that they could draw a picture and enter it (there is a five and under art category). So I made some cookies this morning and baked up some whole wheat bread. The cookies (a kind I make ALL the time) turned out ugly but my bread, oh it was glorious. The loaf had risen perfectly, the top was buttered to shiny perfection and the texture was silky. I cut into one loaf to make sure it was as glorious as it seemed and left the other on the counter to cool before I packaged it up.

I laid the kids down for nap and planned on leaving as soon as they got up. I got Grace settled and went to wrap up the bread and package the pictures for transport. I walked into the kitchen and discovered the beautiful loaf of bread had the edge completely gnawed off. Upon further inspection I noticed half of the other loaf was MIA. After the kids swore on their very lives it wasn't them I looked down and saw a bloated and contented dog.

Anybody want a yellow lab? She's real good with children.

Sadie

A couple of weeks ago Michael ran across a posting for a six year old yellow lab that needed a new home. Michael emailed the lady to arrange a time to meet the dog and to find out a bit more about it. Turns out the owner lives three doors down from us. She brought Sadie over and the rest is history. We are now the proud owners of a dog. I make Michael scoop the poop and the kids feed her. She is a very well behaved dog for the most part. The kids maul her and she loves it.
